Hostel’s yes or no?

So as North American hotels are not as common in our cities when we travel its mostly hotel and not too long ago that was it now Airbnb are becoming more popular for budget travelers or save money on accommodation so you can do an activity that is more expensive. Since it’s only for sleeping and you’re there to explore the city and its surrounding. Now I am for a hostel for those who don’t know what a hostel it is a communal living hotel where instead of renting a hotel room you rent a bed in a room that will be shared with other travelers. Normally a room has between 6 to 8 beds in the form of bunks and has a bathroom either for that room only or a communal bathroom like in TV shows or movie where there at college.

Pros

A hostel is a communal living so the opportunity of meeting new people from around the world is much greater. Example my solo travel to York meet tree lovely girls also solo travelling and we decided to go explore together and now we still talk from time to time.
Budget travelling. A hostel is a great way to save money especially if you are travelling for a long period of time and are going from place to place trying to see as much of the world. and are only staying in one pl for two days
The majority of hostels have the option of choosing same-sex dorms or mix. Also, if you are but in a mixed dorm and don’t feel comfortable you may ask to be changed for your comfort.
There are some hostel companies that are across Europe and maybe the world they have many bigger facilities. Witch can accommodate a larger group like school trips. If the school is travelling, there most likely to pair up or into a team of four students up together for sleeping arrangements in hotel rooms to save money. Well, the hostel is cheaper, and you can put more people in one room. Also if you are there to visit as a school trip you are up early and gone all day and some of the night and you get back to go to be and redo it all over again the next day.
last pros location most hos are local in the center of the city and are near the tourist attraction. Or if they’re not right in the center they are near lots of hanging out places Like bars and restaurants.

Cons

Now, these cons are really a self-opinion. this cons a factor for me before I experience staying in hostels. Now they don’t influence me. The possibility of being robbed of your things while you are sleeping or away for the day. Now if the hostel does not provide you with a locker to store your belongings, I would bring my things with me I know that would be a hassle. If they do offer storage whether it’s in a locker or a locked room bring your self a padlock to secure your things.

My first tow experiences staying in Hostels

Now I’ve only stayed in tow hostel but the ones I’ve stayed in where really lovely. Especially the one in York it’s an independent hostel and is smaller than other ones I was looking into prior to my trip and the reviews for this place was great. On Trip adviser, there are over 800 reviews and only 18 are bad but they all talk about the noise which they can’t control since they are in the center of the city where all the bar are situated and it clearly states it in there listing. Also, if you are arriving by train it’s a short ten minute and beautiful walk over the river that runs through York and an even closer walk to The York Minster. The owner also owns the bar next door and on certain days residence of the hostel get a discount on meals. This is why I am recommending you to this hostel if you are ever in York

  • It is very well kept clean
  • There is one “wet room” (the toilet and shower are all in one room) per room for 6/8 people but on the communal areas there are about 8 more wet rooms. So, if one of your roommates is taking forever you can just hop on down to the other ones.
  • There is a full kitchen in the common area where free coffee and tea are provided and since they are small, they also provide a carton of milk for tea and coffee. There is also a kitchenette on the other floor with a mini fridge, kettle, microwave, tea and coffee plus another carton of milk.
  • They also have a washer and dryer available
  • So, when I got to the hotel it was my first time ever staying in one and check in is at 1 pm but I got their way to early and had a suitcase with me. So, the staff offered to store it in the bake for me till I got bake to check in. They just told me to get out the things that I needed out for the next two hours till check-in. This left me free to explore the city and not worry about my things being stolen.

This Hostel Is called The fort boutique Hostel. This is not a brand deal I just really enjoyed my stay and wanted to share it with you all. https://www.thefortyork.co.uk/
Now, this next hostel is part of a chain of hostels called the safestay. They can be found across Europe I stayed in the one in Edinburgh. It was nice and clean but because they are much larger establishment I was checked in at the front desk and then given vague instruction on how to get to my room. They also a sight you a bed and that is the bunk you take the room was very large and they had the wall plug in between the top and bottom bunk so you could plug your phone and have it by your side. The beds are made of metal, so they do make noise. enough about the negative I did enjoy it is very close to the Scottish mile road and there is a bar/lounge that is part of the hostel that is open till 10. So, if you are travelling with children it is not so noisy as the one in York was. on there listing online they do specify that they are family friendly and I do agree. they also cater to school trips https://www.safestay.com/
